Prepare your files locally.
At this step you need to prepare all your files that you wish to publish in the web for
uploading to your web server. We assume that you already have all required web files on
your hard drive and you simply a little confused how to make all this stuff available for
other people in the Internet. The preparation will take only a few steps:
-
Make sure you have placed all your web files in a separate folder
For example: My Documetns\Web This folder may have subfolders if your site has
complex structure or you may place all your pages in this single folder if you have
only a few pages. It's a good idea to place your graphic files (.gif; .jpg; .png) into a
separate subfolder. For example: My Documetns\Web\gfx See the picture
that illustrates simple site file placing order.
- After placing your files check out all the links at every .html file and make sure that
all works well. Make sure you don't miss some graphic files and all paths are correct.
The best way to test your web pages is to install web server software at your local PC,
but we don't recommend it to beginners since it requires specific computer skills.
If you think that your site looks fine and everything works as you want you may follow to the next Step 2.
