Create new Profile for your website.
Now we shall help you to start work with Site Publisher. The first thing is creating new Profile
(Job) for your web site. Start Site Publisher by clicking it's icon on your desktop. When
program appears on the screen click the New button to launch Publishing Wizard.
If you still do not have Site Publisher installed,
please go to www.sitepublisher.net and download full
functional 30-day trial version for free.
- Job Selection.
Type in new Profile Name. For example: MyNewWebsite. Please, don't use any
special characters like (,;/\[]<>?!). You'll use this name to start your web site updating next
time. When you're done, press Wizard's Next -> button.
- Files and Folders.
At this step you should let Site Publisher know which files you need
to publish in the web. Select a local folder where your web files are stored.
See the Step 1 for more details how to place your web files.
When have you selected the folder, Site Publisher will show you the Total Files Count and Size for selected directory.
In most cases you don't need to change other parameters at this pane.
Site Publisher will use default settings for File Types. Press Next -> button to go
to next pane.
- Host Settings.
Now you should make sure that you have all the information to access to your remote server (ask your
hosting provider if you're not sure). Following information is required to connect remote FTP
server:
- Host name (or IP address)
- Port (default is 21)
- Username (or login)
- Password
So, fill Host Name, Port , and Login information in appropriate fields at Host Settings panel.
You don't need to change other parameters at this time. Press Next -> button.
- Proxy Settings.
If you don't use a proxy simply skip this step by pressing Next -> button again.
Some users may check the Use Proxy checkbox and then specify proxy settings. In this
case Site Publisher will use specified proxy to connect the remote server.
- Transfer Settings.
The most important thing is to specify path to your DocumentRoot at the remote server in
the Initial Remote Directory field. Ask your hosting provider for correct path. By default
Site Publisher uses the directory you "get in" when you just have logged in to your server.
You may specify relative path to your "get in" directory or use the slash (/) to set path from
the server root. When you're done, press Wizard's Next -> button.
- Final Tuning.
You are about to finish your Profile creation. Now you can associate your new Profile with
Dialup-Connection to start it automatically when connection is established, or let
Site Publisher to start your Profile immediately after this dialog will be closed.
Click Finish button to finalize your Job creation and return to main window.
Remember! All Profile settings can be easily changed at any time by selecting your Job Profile
and pressing Edit button on the main program toolbar. So now you are ready to go to
the Step 3.
